Some Dodge Products can have no apparent problem one moment  and the next moment 
have a bearing knock and a rod hanging out the side of the motor block
All in what seems to be split seconds to the drivers as they are motivating down the highway.

Possibly Every - Not all - Durango,   (Story)  Owners from 1999 on will need to change their engine ... 
early on because the oil pickup screen become caked/coated with sludge 
and literally starves the crankshaft bearings to death for need of clean engine oil.
9.6 on a 10.0 scale of Severity rating.

Some Toyota & Lexus Products also seem to have the disease of loosing engines to sludge.
In the same way ... that is the sludge literally blocks off the oil pump pickup screen 
and destroys the engines.

Many VW - Volkswagen (VW Story) 
products have all gone to a required specification engine lubricant ...
Because >>> the sludge accumulates on the oil pickup tubes and causes the engines to have 

A decreased oil flow volume and pressure.

I myself have had to change many of the VW alloy oil pans,
 because of curb damage 
and the oil pickup tubes because the screens are restricted off 
with either small bead like material, pieces of the orange dipstick support stand, or sludge ... 
causing the $ 700 plus tensioner between the two cams on the 1.8 Turbo engine 
in the New Beetles, Passats and Jettas  >>>  to have a prematurely ended life.

A noisy engine - more than VW says is "normal"
And the likelihood of the timing chain jumping 
and kissing engine valves every time the engine starts 
is the # 2 reason I see these vehicles in the shop ...

The #3 reason is a turbo that is shot before the vehicle clocks up 50.000 miles.
Heat seared Petroleum coal deposits that first accumulate
And then break off to destroy prop shafts and their bearings ... 
Causing seals to leak and engine oil loss ...
And Consequential wear from low oil levels - 
When worn, these engines use oil consistently ...
Or it appears all at once. ...
How long can an engine run with no oil in it 
without becoming destroying itself ? ?????


# 1 reason being the phenolic impellor water pump spinning on the shaft 
causing overheating conditions without any warning or apparent diagnosis 
(when taken to any other shop other than a VW service specialist shop).

What do you think happens when this engine overheats with petroleum 
Non VW Spec engine oil in the crankcase?

Oil consumption, further crudded up piston rings, head gaskets leaks,
catalytic converter and oxygen sensor failures

Take the oil fill cap off a new VW product and see the buildup of crud there
as a result of the good ol' boys in the US using their usual and ordinary 
petroleum oil ... I like my Petro..OIl or what ever.

This stuff, (petroleum oil) along with owner neglect -
 helps attribute to the owner or the 2nd owner 
of these vehicles having to shell out 
some $1300 plus for a new catalytic converter ... 
plus oxy sensors 
plus the install labor.

So, I have to ask you ... Does the US public,
Meaning the owners and oil change people at large

Really Know what the correct products to use are ...
To prevent Premature high dollar engine and
extremely high dollar exhaust / emission control devices?

It is proven every day by the vehicles brought into our shop.
Could it be that NO one is taught anything ?
Or at the least ... even if they are taught to use a quality synthetic product ...
The vehicle owners choose not to do so.

Do you simply want the cheapest, lowest priced bottle 
of the Usual Petroleum oil that you have bought for the 
last 30 years ???

It does not matter what petroleum oil 
you use in today's New Generation products ...

Most of them will shorten the useable service life
of every new vehicle that you will choose to service.
IT is a historical fact that 
(not all) but many of the masses of vehicles
 sold since and put into service since 1980
are gone, engines, transmissions, final drives.

Gone ... Blown up, worn out, wrecked or rusted to scrap.

And the gut wrenching Hell of it ...

"professionals"
to do the right thing for you.

(When it is totally against their training to 
Even Understand that they are at fault for 
Selling and Installing disposable - inefficient -
poorly protecting long term products.)

 

And it is against your spaced repetitious training
that you have had through the years to even expect
to hear anything different than
"Use this cheap - short life product."

"It is good for your car ... "

(And you have come to believe it ...)

When believing in it - is actually detrimental to your life income.
I calculate a loss of over $40,000 for people who started driving

motor vehicles on or before the summer of 1972.
$40,000 lost in lost efficiency.

Money simply thrown up in the air
for the lack of learning sound knowledge.


On the Other Hand ...

Little if anything happens if the thermostat sticks 
on an engine that is using > 

Synthetic Lubricants.
Generally Speaking >>>
No damages to head, gaskets, camshafts, 
or even much of any heat transfer to 
destroy the automatic transmission fluid ... 
(which ordinarily - would cause this fluid to fail also.)

as Amsoil manages the heat and actually protects -
 allowing the driver to safely dead head 
before he/she actually notices that there 
is steam pouring out from under the hood 
and the antifreeze is pouring out - being a problem.


The ONE  and most Pressing point 
I am trying to make here is this.

Today's vehicles are made totally different that those of yester generation.

The Clean Air Act of 1970. 
The Clean Water Act of 1972
set about provisions that MANDATED

Motor vehicle exhaust emission discharge levels to decrease immediately 
Starting in 1973. 

Every 5 years the emission discharge was MANDATED 
that the levels must decrease to new lower levels ...

And then ... you wonder about why the 1998 - 2003 
model vehicles have the problems that they do have ...


These 1998 - 2003 year model vehicles have sludge problems - 
because of the overall engine/emission control designs 

 increased "RETAINED HEAT" to better allow for lower exhaust discharge.

The Hotter the engine runs (to a point) 
the lower the amount of the measured exhaust gases as they go out into our atmosphere. 

Sludge / varnish / crankcase blowby gas fume deposits 

Are never in new engines - Not when NEW.

This stuff grows there from first being available from it's source -
the engine oil that you  installed or paid for someone else to install.

The high temperature operating conditions, 
the smaller oil pump pickup tubes and screens, 
The amount of work that the engine performs and increased heat levels


All work together to degrade and wear internal combustion region motion parts ...
Even with  the use of Synthetic Lubricants, this is true.
The Marked difference is that our 35 years of research and development
has made our product line one that stands head and shoulders
above many world manufacturers.

 

The difference is design.
The difference is the willingness to put in the materials 
that cost more from the beginning of the manufacturing process.
The difference is that of being able to fully stand behind all the words
of talk and deliver quality and support that NO one other manufacture will give ...

The last difference is the heart of the man who stepped up to the plate

And with a dream, said I can do it.

The 2003 - 2008 Generation of US Market vehicles
has it's own level of mandated emission laws.

And because of these laws 
That the manufacturer's can not ignore - (under threat of massive fines per vehicle)
The computer controls for these fuel consuming engines are a different breed altogether than those of before 2003 -

Take the 2004 and 2005 VW Jetta 1.9 TDI -BEW Engine - (For Example)
The Diesel fuel delivery system is now a set of 30,000 PSI selenoids.
No More Diesel Fuel Injection pumps, lines and injectors.

The Diesel Engine has been forced to go through 
a tremendous design and engineering process.


It is NOTHING like the 2003 and earlier models ...
And as time passes ... when the owners find out - due to neglect 
Or their old dog ways of using what engine lubricant
that the want to use ...

Instead of following VW's directions of the 505.02 or higher lubricant.
Doing 10,000 mile oil and filter changes ...

Stopped up Intake Manifolds - restricted so badly, 
Worm Hole is the only size of air passage to the combustion chamber.

And Worn out turbos,

And ruined Catalytic converters and O2 Monitors.  

All bring about regrets of ever buying a car that has the 
Manufacturer's requirement of following directions ... 
with costly consequences for those people who are just
too stubborn or unable to change their thinking to 
be more in line with what is Today's Required Lubricants.

Even the manufacturer's reps, their dealers and the service advisors 
too stubborn or have been self taught by doing the cheap oil change ...
That they themselves can not break their own habit of 
shortening the service life of
their own as well as their customer's engines. 

The picture above is one of a twin cam BMW engine 
where the owner or the person who was responsible for installing 
approved synthetic lubricants ... choose to use Petroleum.

Synthetic Lubricants have been required since 1993 for Most 
if not all BMW Engines, Transmissions and final Drive Units.

And Generally speaking, BMW has the same design for the timing chain tensioner
keeping tight the chain between the intake and exhaust camshafts ...

as that which is in the 1.8 Turbo engines 
in all the VW New Beetles. Passats & Jettas.

Those which are having ... the oil pickup tubes become restricted.
Excessive wear in the chains & tensioners.
Chain Slap, Jumping time, gauled cam journals ...
All the usual end results of poor lubrication ...
as a result of choosing petroleum engine lubricants ...
Which can not do their job - long term.

Get this fact ... 
Wrap your complete mind around it ... 
as tight as you can make it.


If you don't get any other fact in you life - the rest of your life!

Take a clean, light colored bucket to the place that you take your car to - in order to have it's oil changed.  
Ask them to catch your engine oil in this clean bucket.  

Let it set - undisturbed for a couple of days.


And kindly pour off all but the lower 3/4s of an inch of oil.  
SAVE it on a shelf in your garage.

Do this 3 times without emptying the bucket completely.
That is to say ... let the bottom of this bucket 
accumulate what actually drips out of your engine oil pan 
 

 and you will see that the Sludge and Crud that I am telling you about is 

already designed and engineered 
into the petroleum oil that you are pouring into your engines ... 

right off the shelves of the stores you buy from if you DIY
 or
from the Quick Lube places that sell  and install for you.

Sludge and crud are not in the engines 
when they are assembled 
... are they?


Not all things, people or products are equal, some petroleum oils leave less crud and sludge than others ... 
The point I am making here is that when you do have your sludge and crud ...
it is because it came out of the oil bottles.


Combustion heat broke down the engine oil and the sludge started.
The sludge becomes squeegeed into the piston rings ... 
and as time passes ...
The heat of the engine actually destroys the thin film barrier 
of the petroleum oil 
so that cylinder wall wear, piston and piston ring wear all occur ...

Allowing blowby, oil consumption, Oxy Sensor and Catalytic Converter Contamination.


The only other way that I know that an engine develops sludge is for antifreeze 
to be introduced into the engine oil - turning it into something 
that resembles diarrhea 


and it really does not take much time -
 (on a bad day for example ... less that 10 miles) 
for rod bearings to spin and 
your engine to blow after this happens.

 





Today, After becoming introduced to the Albert Amatuzio family
and the business that A.J. started over 35 years ago,  


I know that the products that they offer are real.

Here is a  personal story that I have to tell you ...
That I believe to be truthful and valuable to you.

 

Phillip Hightower owns a 1996 Toyota Tacoma.

45 months ago, Phillip changed the oil in his Toyota.
That was January 2004.

January 2004, He changed the oil and oil filter - 1st  use.

January, 2005, He changed the oil filter and topped off the oil.

January 2006, He changed the oil filter and topped off the oil.

January 2007, He changed the oil and filter - end use.


This engine oil now had run for 36 months, 
With 2 filter changes 1 year apart.

We caught this oil in a clean pan and immediately 
strained it into a 100 mesh paint strainer.

The 36 Month engine oil 
had No sludge, plaque or varnish that came out into the pan -
Or was caught by the paint strainer.

 

Even without having had the Amsoil 1 micron filter added onto the engine ...
the engine oil in my opinion was suited for another 2 years of service ... 
with oil filter changes again every January.

Today,  As of the writing and posting of this page ...
the new oil we installed in January  07 
does not look, smell or feel any different than that 
which we caught and have tagged and bottled from Phillip's 

vehicle on display in our showroom.

or absolutely having to change your engine 
oil every 3,000 miles - 
or you will "void your warranty".

Should an engine fail ... 
it is the responsibility of the Manufacturer - 
Your new car dealer to 
properly assess the cause of the failure.

There can be many causes for engine failure ... 
From Over Revving, Hot Rodding,
Lean Burn mixtures,
Antifreeze leaks & Over heating,
And a whole list of others.


With concern to engine lubricants ...

The only requirement is to use the lubricant
in the grade and type that they recommend.

Having said that ... IF the lubricant fails ...
Spectra-analysis either proves it has or not.

IF Amsoil lubricants fail 
under the new car warranty period 
and you change your oil and filter 
once a year or 25,000 miles in that year,

then Amsoil Inc. pays parts and labor to make your vehicle whole again ... within stipulated procedures and guidelines.

If it is proven by Spectra-Analysis
that the Amsoil or Pennzoil or Mobil or Valvoline
or any other manufacturer's lubricant has not broken down and failed

or concern to oil lubricant,
it's manufacturer's good name or you for your choice

from their own "in house" Lubricant products -
whether petroleum or synthetic by design and manufacture.


Other than - what is called "ignorance facts"

A lack of knowledge of the facts of the matter -
often can be overcome by due diligence of study.

But what happens when the people you are dealing with
are simply brainwashed and cannot tell you the real truth of the matter ?


The Federal Trade Commission has simply said this about that.

Cut out the idiot double talk.

  • Use any product you wish to use that meets or exceeds the Manufacturer's requirements.

  • If you - the manufacturer claim that using a proven superior quality product will "In Fact" void the warranty:  Then you the manufacturer must give free of charge the products that "Will not Void the Warranty" to your customer - for the entire period of warranty time frame - labor to be paid by the customer.  

  • And if the Manufacturer's products themselves attribute to lubrication failure and consequential engine destruction - because of design or manufacturer - after the warranty period ends, then the Manufacturer themselves bear the burden of correcting their own self-inflicted engine failures.

  •    Why else could you really imagine that the class action lawsuit brought about by sludged up Mercedes Benz owners from 1996 to 2003     
    actually won their 32 million dollar law suit.  
     

  •     The Mercedes owners themselves made the choice to buy inferior lubrication products, and then faulted Mercedes Benz of NA for not telling them to use Mobil 1, or a synthetic of equal or higher performance value.

    Who in their right mind would use a short life petroleum oil in a $60,000 - $80,000 automobile?

    Yet, tens of millions of Newer Model Mercedes Owners and their service advisors did ... in between 1996 and 2003.


    And Likely Still Do ... being trained to using cheap petroleum oil changes. 


    Not wanting to pay a premium price to protect their vehicle against their own use and abusive habits ... that they do not even consider abuse. 

 

In case you don't know it ... Europe does not have any of the junky low performance petroleum oils on their market to sell to their motoring public.

10,000 mile oil and filter services ...
Has been the norm there for decades.


Or take your pick.

  • Old Dog Habits, Same Dog Path, Same Tree, 
    Same Meal every day, day after day after day.

  • Or        "Someone else 
    is responsible for my problems."  
    I bear no responsibility for finding out what is in 
    today's marketplace ... and using what I may come to understand is best for my family.

  • Or I've got to believe that someone else's son who does NOT own my vehicle - actually knows what is best for it ... without ever actually questioning his judgment.   ... because nearly every mother's son out there tells the same story.  

    Then the same lame story must be true - right?

    The very last comment I have for you is this ...

    • Our Nations Air Force 
      uses A superior synthetic lubricant and incredibly superior filtration systems.

      Our US Navy and those countries that continue to use Diesel powerplants to man Non-Nuclear powered shipping and worldwide transportation from one side of our world to another ... have superior synthetic lubricants and filtration systems
      .

    • Turbo equipped engines in all types today 
      use and recommend synthetic lubricants.

    • These are Applications where it is known that the heat of the engine and exhaust actually cooks the heavier long chain molecule junk in petroleum oil and causes it heat harden itself into chunks of material like coal in the oil feed line  ... 
      just waiting to break off and act as abrasive 
      to wear the turbo prop shaft and it's bearings.

    • Last Item here ... when a shop replaces a turbo, new or reman - there is no warranty ... unless the installer actually purchases a new oil feed line - completely removing all the hardened grit out of the lubrication circuit ... so the seller will not have to replace it ... 

      Over "Installer ignorance" of what caused the turbo failure in the first place."


So, I ask you ...

Are you going to be part of PT Barnum's crowd?
... Buying a cheap product because  you like the fact that it sludges your engines,
